Overview

Dataism was an experimental project exploring how data could be transformed into an expressive visual and spatial experience through motion, interaction, and installation-based presence.

Goals

Treat motion as the primary language

Use movement as the core medium for expressing data behavior, rhythm, density, and transformation over time.

Design for screen and physical space

The work had to function as a digital system and as a live exhibition experience.

Exploration

The point was to let data behave: give datasets motion, rhythm, and density, and let viewers change the outcome by interacting with the installations in real time.

Java and Processing library

The first part of the exhibition used code executed in Java with Processing, a graphical library for new media art.

TouchDesigner

The second part used TouchDesigner, a node-based visual programming environment for multimedia applications.

Exhibition

The exhibition took place in the Great Armory building of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and consisted of three interactive installations.

Sensors and controllers

Controllers and sensors allowed viewers to interact with installations and dynamically generate artworks in real time.

Data cube

The Data Cube merged a physical cube with projection mapping and a custom controller.
